Green Coffee Intermediate is a SCA certified course that looks at green coffee in a deeper level and builds on the core vocational skills needed for those people who work with green coffee on a daily basis.

Rafael Mlodzianowskiis an experienced trainer and consultant, known for his tailored projects that can help improve quality for any coffee business.

  • Raf is a Certified Arabica Q Grader and a SCAAuthorised Trainer (AST) in Brewing, Barista, Sensory, Green and Roasting skills.
  • He is also working on projects with farmers in a couple of coffee producing origins.
  • Besides all these, Raf is the founder of the Creators Cup alternative brewing event, that has now grown into a regular and international event. 

Green Coffee Intermediate is a 2 days course, broken down into 3 areas:

I. PRINCIPLES OF COFFEE GROWING AND PROCESSING

Key differences in the botany of the Coffee species are explored, along with variations in farming practices. This first part covers an explanation of differences in processing techniques for the production of specialty coffee, along with insight into how these techniques change the cup profile of coffee. 

II.INTRODUCTION TO GREEN COFFEE GRADING

You will then learn how to physically examine green coffee samples, identify physical defects, and use key equipment needed for effective quality assessment of green coffee.

III. COFFEE CONTRACTS AND GREEN COFFEE PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT

At an intermediate level basic market principles that are involved in pricing changes of all coffee sectors are explored. In addition to the structure of markets this module also shows you how to create coffee green contracts with suppliers and customers. Among many others, you will look at how to apply your knowledge of seasonality in coffee cropping, along with shipping and storage knowledge to stock holding patterns.
